This summer town hall meetings throughout the country have seen average Americans voice their displeasure about the Government taking over of 1/6th of the economy.

The over reach by Democrats to nationalize health care combined with the Bush tarp plan, then Obama's stimulus plan, omnibus plan, takeover of GM and Chrysler and Czars regulating almost every area of life in America have caused many American to have serious concerns about the direction of the country.

As the polls slip what has been the response by many Democrats? The racism charge. This week alone we've seen Nancy Pelosi and Jimmy Carter blame criticism of Obama as racism. That charge historically has shut up the opposition. This time it will back fire.

Is there racism in the Unites States? Yes but it exists on both sides of the isle. Was President Obama a racist accusing a white police officer arresting a black Harvard Professor without knowing the facts? By Democrat standards yes. Was Obama a racist for attending for 20 years a church run by the Reverend Wright? Yes by standards created by Democrats.

The problem is the far left in this country have lived in an alternate universe for too long. They do not see the greatness in this country only the warts. It's like asking a fish what it's like to be wet. The fish has no idea it's wet. A leftist has no idea of America's greatness.

In the past the left have dominated what has been referred to as the main stream media. Whatever the issue was the American public had to hear the news from a leftist perspective. We were told under Reagan and Bush 41 homelessness was rampant. It disappeared mysteriously under Clinton. Reagan would create a nuclear war with Russia. Obama will make the world love us again. Ask East Europe if that's true now?

The problem these self professed intellectuals have is the Internet, Fox News, Talk Radio and the Wall Street Journal. The ACORN scandal where two young college students filmed ARORN workers trying to get what they believed a prostitute and a pimp a house and cheat on their taxes went ignored by the main stream media. Charley Gibson of ABC News went so far on a radio interview as to say he hadn't heard of the scandal. Two days later ABC finally covered it.

The main stream media is no longer main stream. They are fringe and many of the people accused of being racists are average Americans trying to fight peacefully to keep this country from becoming another France. They are not racists.

Considering the pile of trash and arrests that generally follow a leftist rally compared to the crowd in Washington last Sunday representing the conservative movement is telling. No arrests last Sunday and little trash.

The trashing of Sarah Palin last summer and the vile treatment of conservative minorities by the left is equally telling. If one side has a monopoly on violence and racism in 2009 the evidence clearly point the left holds that. Nancy and Jimmy appear to be the biggest cheerleaders of such boorish behavior.

National Health Care - it's not in your best interest

For some reason the Democrats believe the passing of Senator Kennedy will create a populace wave of support for the beleaguered Health Care Bills littering the Senate and House. Similar to President Obama’s attempt to compare the US Postal Service with Fed Ex and UPS, the use of the late Senator’s death for Health Care reform is non-sensical.

The Post Office has problems because it's a monopoly for first class mail run by the Government with one of the largest unionized work forces in the world. Other than the US Military, most things run by the Government are riddled with corruption and nepotism, not to mention lose billions of dollars annually.

Senator Kennedy received the best care available in the world. Notice he did not travel to Cuba or Canada. Under the ObamaCare plan, Mr. Kennedy would have received palliative care (like morphine) and no leading edge surgery or treatments which likely extended his life by many months. Why would any rational person want some Government Bureaucracy deciding who gets an operation and who doesn't.

In 1988 my Father was treated for Brain Cancer. I distinctly remember sitting in a room with my Mother and Brother hearing doctors say "your Father will probably live 3 months WITH the surgery." I must confess I was against it. I thought it was cruel to remove a softball size tumor and leave my Father to wilt regardless of the surgery. I couldn’t understand why the doctors would want to treat such a difficult, advanced case with very low odds of survival. I'll never forgot what the doctor said in response to my questions. "Everyone deserves a fighting chance." I was stunned to hear that but it made sense. We elected to have the surgery, and my Father lived for five more years and created fond memories and enlightened others’ lives beyond any expectation.

With ObamaCare my Dad would have been dead within months.

We're told there are 47 million who are uninsured. They maybe uninsured but if they are lacking for medical services, for many, it's their own choice – they feel they are too young, too healthy, or they can afford it, but don’t want to pay. Of course for others, there may be real reasons why they want care, but cannot get it. Even for them, a hospital is always available. Hospital ERs can legally not refuse service. To help this group of less than 15% of the population, it makes no sense to destroy a system that well serves the other 85%.

Is our system perfect? No, but most of the problems with our system are a result of tort lawyers (See John Edwards career before the US Senate) and mandates by Federal and Local Governments requiring insurance companies to cover such vital things like Viagra, sex change operations and other ridiculous procedures. As a result, we all pay more.

I'd rather the allegedly “broken” system stay as it is then let the not very bright and arrogant populists in Washington destroy it.

The irony of a liberal politician declaring that a woman has a right to privacy and has a right to an abortion – so she can do what she wants with her body. Fine. Then let me choose what I want done to my body. I don't need those same hypocrites making those life or death decisions that my family made back in 1988.
